Branch Manager – Hermanus – Full Time
 
Objectives of the position
 
To further the vision and mission of Learn to Earn by having oversight of the Hermanus branch and ensuring implementation of training and job creation initiatives. Developing people in line with the philosophy of ‘a hand up, not a hand out’.
 
Responsibilities attached to the position:
 
·        Learn to Earn Vision and Mission:
o       implement the vision and philosophy of the ministry of LtE
o       work with the Director and other managers to ensure the spiritual welfare of the organisation and spiritual growth of the staff.
o       meet on a regular basis with the General Manager to plan and pray together concerning strategy for LtE and planning of the various functions held at LtE such as the staff retreat.
·        Training at Branch:
o       in consultation with the Training Board and General Manager,
§         have oversight of all existing training programmes at LtE including course quality, training materials and administration.
§         have oversight of external training including quotations, development and implementation.
§         participate in strategic planning and development of new courses.
§         have oversight of SAQA requirements including provider accreditation and alignment of courses on the NQF.
·        Business Resource Centre:
o       in consultation with the BRC Board and BRC Manager
§         to have oversight of the staff, resources and contracts of the BRC projects at the branch.
§         to participate in strategic planning and marketing of BRC projects including the coffee shop
§         to ensure effective financial administration of all projects including quotations, costing and pricing, suppliers, invoicing and receipting
·        Branch resources:
o       manage efficient and effective control of LtE resources
o       take responsibility for the maintenance of the property of the branch.
o       work with the Director, Donor Developer and General Manager on funding initiatives for the Branch and its related programmes.
o       co-ordinate an annual stock-take and inventory check
o       ensure asset registers are up to date.
·        Financial Management:
o       ensure careful and appropriate financial management of expenditure according to budget
o       have oversight of the petty cash of the branch.
o       have oversight of the collection of student fees and other income, appropriate receipting and deposit including accurate record-keeping
·        Marketing & Public Relations:
o       work with the PR & Marketing Manager with regard to visitors and tour groups.
o       assist with information for publications and promotional activities.
·        Administrative Management:
o       ensure Training Board meetings are held regularly and prepare a Branch Report for the meeting.
o       manage all human resource issues for the Branch in consultation with other managers including performance evaluation and staff development.
o       ensure monthly support group meetings are co-ordinated and provide input for prayer items at the meetings.
o       initiate any staff appointments that are necessary and attend to preliminary details.
 
Your background requirements should show:
 
·        At least 5 years Management experience preferably at General Management level.
·        Thorough understanding of business practice over a wide range of aspects including inter alia:
o       Business and Financing
o       Human Resource knowledge
·        A relevant business degree or diploma is desirable.
·        Computer literate with well developed communication skills in English while knowledge of Xhosa would be extremely beneficial.
·        Systems oriented with good planning skills.
 
A sound understanding of the concepts of holistic human development from a Christian perspective is essential as is creativity and initiative and the ability to relate to a multicultural ministry team.
 
The commercial nature of this appointment calls for a commercially astute Christian business person capable of developing training & mentorship opportunities and partnerships for the investment of skills into the lives of many.

Admin and fundraising assistant - Head Office in Claremont Cape Town – Full Time
 
Objectives of the position
 
            To provide administrative support to the Director as well as assist with the administrative aspects of fundraising. The position requires the type of personality that can deal with not having a concise detailed job description, although there are routine tasks that will require completion and attention.
 
Responsibilities attached to the position
 
Primary Responsibilities:
 
Related to PA’s position
 
·         Co-ordinating the director’s diary and scheduling meeting appointments
·         Screening incoming calls
·         Coordinating catering, venues etc for meetings
·         Organising the Directors overseas itinerary, flight details, visa etc as part of the job
·         Drafting and/or responding to routine correspondence/queries
·         Dealing with suppliers and service providers, where necessary
·         Working on presentations for fundraising functions (Power Point)
·         Organising fundraising functions and co-ordinating site visits by funders
·         To assist with the organizing and carrying out of regular duties within the organisation that will promote professionalisms and efficiency

Administrative Assistant - Hermanus Branch - Full-time position

Objectives of the position:

 

To provide the branch with administrative support and to be the 'face' of the organisation as recptionist.

Responsibilities of the position:

 
·         assisting the Branch Manager, BRC and Training Project with the efficient operation, control and use of resources and implementation of the vision and mission of the organisation.
·         receptionist duties, assisting customers, visitors, donors, students, graduates and switchboard duties.
·         filing, photocopying and typing
·         interpreting from English/ Afrikaans to Xhosa when necessary in meetings and lectures and in documentation.
·         overseeing cleaning and maintenance of the premises, including obtaining quotations for maintenance and upgrade
·         registering students and monitoring student payments.
·         maintaining the student database.
·         ordering stationery, groceries and consumables.
·         ensuring excellent record-keeping of student records, inventories and asset registers.
·         assisting with record-keeping for the BRC including monitoring inventory, ordering materials, issuing quotations, invoice, consignment notes & receipts and debtors’ and creditors’ control.
·         liaising with donors, facilitating donations, letters of thanks and updating the donor register.
·         receiving and distributing mail, handling outgoing mail including the postage register, purchasing stamps, attending to registered mail and courier services.
·         attending to branch petty cash including compilation of vouchers, distribution of money and maintenance of a petty cash spreadsheet.

Sewing Trainer - Khayelitsha Branch - full-time position

Objectives of the position

To help the organisation to give a hand up to its beneficiaries by providing them with excellent sewing skills training and preparing them for the workplace.

Responsibilities of the position

·         Promoting and marketing the Sewing School courses on offer at Learn to Earn. 

 

·         Conducting an ongoing audit of the Sewing Skills needs of the Learn to Earn students.
·         Development of relevant and applicable training including curriculum and materials.
·         Administering all Sewing School courses including registration of students, keeping of attendance records, preparation of certificates and assisting with graduation
·         Training of students focusing on a holistic approach.
·         Assisting with assessment of student work.
·         Assisting with alignment of the Sewing Skills modules on the NQF and accreditation of the course with the relevant SETA.
·         Encouraging prayer and sharing and motivating students to achieve their best.
·         Assessing focus areas to allow people to move from a position of unemployment to one of self-sustainability.
·         Assisting with financial responsibilities in the Sewing School including financial management of fees and other income, assisting in budget preparation and seeking donations. Overseeing and maintaining all equipment and material.
·         Mentoring graduates including those who are self-employed and those in the Zakhele programmes. Developing a network of potential work-providers for graduates.
