Call Centres are key growth areas in Cape Town with many international companies running their operations from here. The LtE Call Centre course aims to prepare participants for this fast-paced sector with focused PC skills and practical role play exercises over an 8 week period. Trainees have the opportunity to visit call centres at partner companies such as TFG to experience first-hand the work environment.

The course is designed so that both baking and business skills learnt in theory are put into practice in real life situations. With the high unemployment rate in South Africa, the Bake-for-Profit project is meeting one of the deepest needs in communities throughout the country: the right to earn a living.


Course Outline

  • Basic Baking Business Skills – recipe costing, financial management, presentation of a basic business plan, identifying business opportunities, stock control
  • Safety and Hygiene
  • Measuring Techniques
  • Cooking and Mixing Methods
  • Baking with Yeast
  • Quick flour mixtures

Learners produce the following products:
Biscuits, muffins, koeksisters, chocolate cake, scones, banana bread, fried pies, vetkoek and bread
